Awareness-Raising & Training Activities
Learning is a lifelong process, just like the Autism Spectrum.
Service Description
Eighty years after Leo Kanner diagnosed the first case of Autism, it remains crucial to raise awareness among society and the healthcare professional community about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in adults. This includes understanding the behavioral characteristics that go beyond those presented in diagnostic manuals (DSM and ICD), as well as the necessary in-depth understanding of the phenotypic expression of these characteristics in men and women with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Understanding is essential for better working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum, with full respect for their identity. For healthcare professionals, whether doctors, psychologists, or others, it is fundamental to equip them with a broader knowledge of the assessment process, the instruments used, and how to conduct the referral process. It is also crucial to understand the importance of differential diagnosis, considering the frequency of psychiatric comorbidities in the Autism Spectrum. Only in a society capable of accepting neurodiversity will it be possible for everyone to coexist with mutual respect and enable everyone, including adults on the Autism Spectrum, to live with dignity.
